Foundation of Stars is proud to announce the opening of Québec’s first Centre of excellence on childhood obesity, an organization dedicated to research on the obesity epidemic currently touching today’s children and adolescents. As the Centre’s main financial partner, Foundation of Stars will support major research projects by working hand in hand with renowned physicians and researchers dedicated to better understanding the childhood obesity epidemic.

“The Foundation is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year! To commemorate the occasion, we are proud to announce that we are continuing our mission by allocating $370,000 to set up the Centre of excellence on childhood obesity. This significant investment, a shining example of Foundation of Stars’ focus on excellence and innovation, will provide children and adolescents who suffer from obesity, as well as their families, a chance to benefit from the special collaborative efforts of physicians and researchers from Québec and Canada’s major universities and hospital centres,” notes Foundation of Stars President and CEO Josée Saint-Pierre.

“The Foundation of Stars Centre of excellence on childhood obesity aims to bring together Québec’s top researchers and professionals in the health and childhood obesity fields, support their novel research and help them develop treatments and solutions to the growing problem of childhood obesity," explains Dr. Julie St-Pierre, paediatrician and RASC President and spokesperson.

The Foundation of Stars Centre of excellence on childhood obesity will operate out of the Clinique 180 offices, located at 2200, avenue Mont-Royal est, and its activities will be spearheaded by Dr. Julie St-Pierre, paediatrician and President of the RASC (cardiovascular health network), a not for profit organization focused on the childhood obesity epidemic in Québec.
