Our History

The Foundation of Stars has existed near 40 years. It’s primary mission has always been research into children's diseases.

Our History

1963 to 1976
Volunteers create the conseil des Clubs de service (Council of service clubs) to improve children's quality of life.

1967
Fundraising for passports for underprivileged children, for expo 67.

1976
Fundraising for passports for underprivileged children, for the Olympic Games.

1977
Production of the first Telethon in Québec, the Téléthon des étoiles (The Telethon of Stars), produced throughout Québec, in French and English by CFCF 12.

1994
The Telethon of Stars becomes the Telethon for Research into Children's Diseases.

1996
The Board of Directors is created. It is composed of representatives from service clubs, regional representatives and members not affiliated with a club, who are corporate partners with the Foundation.

1998
The conseil des Clubs de service (Council of service clubs) becomes The Foundation for Research into Children's Diseases. Chantal Lacroix, Mireille Deyglun, André Robitaille et Lori Graham become ambassadors of the Foundation.

2007
The Foundation for Research into Children's Diseases becomes the Foundation of Stars.

2009
The Foundation of Stars telethon presents its last telethon.

2012
The Foundation of Stars celebrates its 35th anniversary. Mario Tessier, a man with a big heart and sensitive to our cause, joins the Foundation as the official spokesperson.

2013
The Foundation of Stars works in new ways to select team members, in order to create a convergent and integrated work environment: the focus is set on the donors who are committed to the magic of Pediatric Research.

2015-2016
The Foundation is again in regions with the Défi Moi pour Toi (Challenge Me to You), and in school with the Ultime entraînement policier (Ultimate police training).
