Volunteer testimonies : Carole Côté

“I wish everyone could experience the joy of volunteering at least once in their lifetime,” stated Carole. With over 30 years as a volunteer under her belt, Carole has been helping out the Foundation of Stars for the past year and a half. “It’s very satisfying and rewarding,” she explained.

People will often volunteer because of something they or a loved one have experienced. In Carole’s case, her need to give to others arose from her son’s handicap. For the past 38 years, he has been bravely and resolutely waging a battle against spina bifida, a malformation that develops when a child is still in the womb and eventually leads to paralysis and loss of sensation in the lower limbs. “There is nothing worse than helplessness in front of a sick child,” says this courageous mother, whose greatest wish is that the donations for research succeed in healing all of the children who are sick.

Carole and her husband Pierre

Carole channelled her energy and dedication to a number of our activities. “I have such great memories of my contribution to these events. They were all special and rewarding,” she stated. Her husband Pierre has even come on board, pitching in whenever he can. “He used to drop me off when I would go volunteer, then he would come in and give us a hand!” said Carole.

There are not enough words to enable the Foundation of Stars to sufficiently thank the many volunteers who generously give of their time and energy, year after year. Every one of them plays a valuable role! Why not do like Carole and Pierre, and support research into children’s diseases by becoming a volunteer?
